16 & 17 Services

As young people approach adulthood, they naturally begin gaining more independence. At Dreytons, we strive to replicate this transition, helping children and young adults on their journey to independence.

What We Offer

While many children in care are best suited for foster care or children’s homes, at age 16, some may be ready to move to supported accommodation as they leave care and become ‘care leavers.’ Our supported housing provides a nurturing, home-like environment where young people can develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently while ensuring their safety and well-being. To us, it’s more than just a place to stay—it’s a home where they can thrive.

Who We Help

We support a diverse group of young people, including:

  • Young offenders at risk of reoffending
  • Vulnerable youth, such as those at risk of CSE
  • Care leavers transitioning out of the care system
  • Young people with a history of substance misuse
  • Those facing mental health challenges
  • Individuals affected by gang involvement
  • Young people with physical and/or mental disabilities

How We Help

In addition to providing safe, semi-independent accommodation, we develop personalized plans for each young person. These plans aim to equip them with the skills they need for independent living and responsible adulthood. Depending on individual needs, a plan may include:

  • Skills for Life: Courses on cooking, cleaning, and daily living skills
  • Education & Training: Access to further education and vocational training
  • Mental Health Support: Professional mental health services
  • Reoffending Prevention: Teaching behavior management skills
  • Positive Influence Recognition: Helping young people identify and choose positive influences in their lives
